At the end of this meeting of the Berlin process, no mention was made of the three major political announcements made in Libya over the past two days: neither at the request of the upper house to postpone the elections for a year, nor to the motion of no confidence in the government by the assembly, and even less of General Haftar's declaration, which suggests that he would run for president.

If they discussed it among themselves behind closed doors, nothing transpired.

Certainly aware of the potential instability, the members of the Berlin process preferred to hammer home, like a leitmotif, that the December 24 elections must imperatively take place as provided for in Security Council resolution 25-70, and that it is necessary do everything possible to prepare them correctly.

They welcomed the maintenance of the ceasefire, but also reiterated the “immediate” need to see foreign mercenaries withdraw from Libya - a subject that has been acquired for months.

Finally, they called on the Libyan assembly to vote a budget, and Tripoli to allow the repatriation of refugees.
