"At 11:30 (04:30 Moscow time) on September 23, during an aerial reconnaissance, a Mi-8 helicopter of the Khabarovsk Aviation Rescue Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry discovered the wreckage, presumably, of an An-26 aircraft in the area of ​​Khrebtovaya Mountain, whose height is over 900 meters," said in the message of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to the department, the aircraft crashed in a hard-to-reach area, in this regard, a ground group of forces moved to the scene.

“The fate of the crew remains unknown,” the Emergencies Ministry stressed.

According to the information agency "Khabarovsk Territory Today", the wreckage was found on the territory of the Bolshekhekhtsirsky nature reserve.

“The burnt debris was found 13 kilometers from the village of Korfovskiy at an altitude of about 600 meters.

According to a TASS source in the aviation services, the aircraft has been in operation since 1979, and its assigned resource is 40 years.

The emergency services said that the crew did not report any malfunctions on board, the takeoff took place as usual.

Piloting error and difficult weather conditions are considered as possible causes of the accident.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Art.

263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic safety rules and the operation of air transport, resulting in the death of two or more persons").

As part of the investigation of this criminal proceeding, the investigative bodies of the Eastern Interregional SUT of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation carried out a number of investigative actions.

In particular, they questioned the aircraft technicians of ZAO Flight Checks and Systems, who performed maintenance of the aircraft before departure.

fuel samples were seized at Khabarovsk (Novy) airport and a chemical forensic examination was ordered;

the seizure of documents for the pre-flight medical examination of the crew members and the meteorological weather forecast along the route was carried out;

flight and technical documentation for the aircraft and crew members, ”the ministry said in a statement.

The commission of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC), formed to investigate this accident, has begun work.

An-26 incident in Kamchatka

On July 6, in the Kamchatka Territory, an An-26 passenger plane crashed with 28 people on board: 22 passengers and six crew members.

The aircraft operated flight No. 251 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky - Palana.

None of those on board survived.

The search operation at the scene lasted for several days and ended on August 10.

Black boxes were found at the crash site.

The governor of the region, Vladimir Solodov, said that the flight recorder is in good condition and needs to be deciphered.
