Christian Sievers succeeds Claus Kleber as the presenter of “heute journal” on ZDF.

It starts there in January 2022. The fifty-one year old journalist has so far moderated the issue of the “Today” program at 7 pm.

In addition, he is already working for the “heute journal” for a few weeks each year.

Sievers can be seen for the last time on “heute” next Thursday.

On December 30th, Kleber will host the “heute journal” for the last time.

He is retiring.

"Claus Kleber gave the 'heute journal' a face for 18 years and played a decisive role in keeping the show on course as the leading news magazine on German television," said ZDF editor-in-chief Peter Frey.

With Christian Sievers he is “a passionate correspondent” who brings his experience as a reporter to the moderation.

Successor of Sievers at "today" Mitri Sirin, who will start on October 11th.

Sirirn will "perfectly complement" the team with Jana Pareigis and Barbara Hahlweg, said Bettina Schausten, head of ZDF's main editorial office for news.

Claus Kleber has presented the “heute journal” since 2003.

Starting next year, Christian Sievers can be seen alternating with Marietta Slomka, with Bettina Schausten presenting the program a few weeks a year.

Sievers is characterized by a knowledgeable and objective moderation, which has long since ceased to be the rule in public broadcasting.

He has been working for ZDF since 1998 and has already worked as a presenter for the “ZDF morning magazine” and presented projections and analyzes in ZDF election programs.

He was the director of the ZDF studio in Tel Aviv.

Since 2014 he has moderated the 7:00 pm “heute” program and occasionally the “heute journal”.
