In her teens, Emma Karinsdotter from Ronneby had the opportunity to have the well-known children's book author Ulf Nilsson as her teacher in several writing courses in high school.

Already at an early stage, he made her believe that she had the chance to become something in the writing world.

- It means a lot to me.

He even read texts and believed in us.

He had an ability to see details in books, says Emma Karinsdotter.

"He was safe and funny"

After being guided by Ulf, Karinsdotter dared to invest in a career in children's books and has today published several successful titles.

She met Ulf several times in adulthood as a writer colleague and today belongs to the same publisher as Ulf Nilsson did.

When she received the news of his death from the publisher late on Wednesday night, she went instead to go and lay down on the bookshelf and picked out his books.

- I was so sad, it felt strange, too early and wrong, she says.

How do you remember him, how was he as a person?

- He was always so safe and funny.

Kind, warm and attentive.
