23 September 2021 On the occasion of the International Week of Deaf People, Rai provides a series of dedicated and accessible programs.

In collaboration with Rai Cultura, five operas (Cenerentola, Tosca, La Traviata, Carmen and Rigoletto) fully translated into LIS, subtitled on teletext page 777 and complete with audio description that can be activated on the dedicated audio channel.

These productions - unique in the European panorama - will be broadcast on Rai 5 at 10.00 - until Friday 24.

In collaboration with Rai Gold, the Mia Martini fiction “Io sono Mia” translated into LIS - also unique in the European panorama - with subtitles on teletext page 777 and with audio description that can be activated on the dedicated audio channel. It will be broadcast on Rai Premium on Sunday 26 September at 6.00 pm.

Sunday 26 September at 9.00 pm, live streaming on Rai Play, a program will be broadcast with moments of in-depth analysis from the point of view of technologies for hearing disabilities (with the participation of doctors who deal with cochlear implants, and implanted deaf) ;

from a legal point of view (with the participation of magistrates who talk about issues such as the right to defense and the relationship with deaf minors);

from an institutional point of view - with evidence of the recent legislative recognition of LIS (Italian Sign Language) and the intervention of Associations linked to deafness.

These moments of reflection are flanked by testimonies and artistic representations of deaf and hearing people: from the implanted pianist, to the deaf signing actor, to the LIS performers.
