23 September 2021 In the face of stocks that exceed 10 million doses, the new vaccinates collapse, which in just two weeks see a reduction of 41% with only just over 486,000 first doses taken from 15 to 21 September.

Vaccination hesitation persists in the over 50s and slows vaccination in the 12-19 age range. The new monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation highlights this:

As of 22 September (6.16) 93.5 million doses of vaccines were delivered, 75% of the population (44.4 million) received at least one dose and 69.8% ( 41.3 million) completed the cycle. However, the number of weekly administrations continues to rise: they were 1.48 million, but of these only 486,000 were first doses, "a drop compared to the rise at the end of August (831 thousand)".

With respect to vaccination coverage,

3.7 million over 50s (13.5%) have not yet completed the vaccination cycle

, with significant regional differences (from 16.3% in Calabria to 6.3% in Puglia): of these, 2.88 million have not yet received even a dose.

Faced with a flattening of vaccination trends in this age group, the 20-29 and 30-39 age groups continue to rise, albeit at a slower pace.

While

the 12-19 band shows signs of slowing down

: nearly 1.5 million children have not received a dose of the vaccine. "Given the current and unjustified public unavailability of data on reservations, it is not possible to know to what extent these numbers will rise in the coming weeks as a result of the extension of the green pass obligation in the workplace", highlights the president Gimbe Nino Cartabellotta.

Covid-19 cases continue to decline

, marking -14.9% in a week, as well as

hospitalizations and intensive care units

. While the deaths of people infected with Sars-Cov-2 remain stable, equal to 394 in a week (of which 33 referring to previous periods). This is highlighted by the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation for the period 15-21 September, which however reiterates concerns for the resumption of the new school year, considering that "with the delta variant the current measures are insufficient to limit infections".

In the past week, the new cases were 28,676 compared to 33,712 in the previous one; the currently positive 109,513 compared to 122,340 (equal to -10.7%); people in home isolation were 105,060 compared to 117,621 (-10.7%); hospitalizations with symptoms were 3,937 compared to 4,165 (-5.5%) and intensive care 516 compared to 554 (-6.9%).

"In the week 15 to 21 September 2021 - said Nino Cartabellotta, president of the Foundation GIMBE - only four regions showed a percentage increase of new cases.

They go down to 35 provinces with incidence of 50 cases per 100,000 or higher, but is no they exceed 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ".

On the hospital front, at the national level, the occupancy rate of beds remains low (7% in the medical area and 6% in the critical area). However, regional differences remain: for the medical area Calabria (18%) and Sicily (17%) are above the threshold of 15%; for the critical area, no Region exceeds the 10% threshold.

Concerns remain, however, with respect to the resumption of lessons, considering that there are 5.9% of teachers and 32% of children not yet vaccinated even with a dose.

"The real world of the school - states Cartabellotta - finds itself without a systematic screening strategy for staff and students, with rules on distancing that can be waived in the presence of logistical limits and without systematic interventions on aeration and ventilation, nor on the management of transport. vaccination of staff and students is not enough to stem the spread of the virus and ward off DAD, especially in primary schools ".
