23 September 2021 The EU Commission has launched legal actions against 19 Member States that have not taken the necessary measures for the adoption of digital legislation in the field of audiovisual media.



Brussels is sending reasoned

opinions

to the Czech Republic, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Croatia,

Italy

, Cyprus, Slovenia and Slovakia.



All 27 States are required to transpose the Audiovisual Media Services Directive into their national laws without further delay and to inform the Commission about this transposition, which expired on

19 September 2020

.



The directive aims to ensure a

fair single market

for broadcasting services, which keeps pace with technological developments in

audiovisual media and telecommunications

. "The directive, called AVMS, regulates the coordination at Union level of national legislation on all audiovisual media, not just traditional television broadcasting but also audiovisual media services on request (on demand).

the protection of minors

, the accessibility and sharing of videos and the promotion of

European works and independent

.

In the Chamber of the Transport Commission, the Joint Culture and Transport Committees of the Chamber, the hearings of some stakeholders on the draft decrees on the implementation of the EU directive that establishes rules relating to the exercise of the right were scheduled on Thursday 23 September. copyright and related rights applicable to certain online broadcasts of broadcasting organizations and program retransmissions;

implementation of the EU directive on the provision of audiovisual media services, in consideration of the evolution of market realities;

implementation of the EU directive on copyright and related rights in the digital single market.
