A 40-year-old municipal police officer was allegedly assaulted by three individuals on Monday around 7:30 p.m. in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme).

According to his statements, he was the victim of blows to the face, insults and outrages, in his capacity as peacekeeper, reports

The attack allegedly took place in the lobby of his building, rue du Torpilleur Sirocco, and the trio of suspected attackers would have waited for their victim to do battle.

Two suspects on the run and a neighbor arrested

A neighbor of the policeman was arrested and taken into custody.

This 20-year-old young man went into detention to serve other sentences, the daily said.

The other two suspects, on the run, could not be identified.

The departmental security, in charge of the investigation, decided to launch an appeal for witnesses.
