A bus of Bordeaux supporters fell on Wednesday evening, in Montpellier (Hérault) just before the match between the MHSC and the Girondins, in an "ambush", organized by some of their Montpellier counterparts, leading to a brawl that made sixteen lightly injured, AFP learned from the police and firefighters.

The Hérault supporters "were waiting for them at a roundabout, shortly after exiting the motorway", on the way that took them to the stadium, police said.

Smoke and iron bars

The attackers had smoke and iron bars, and are suspected of having cursed the passengers who got off the bus, the incident then turning into a general brawl.

The vehicle drove to the vicinity of the stadium, where the emergency services took care of the wounded.

Sixteen lightly injured, according to the report communicated by the prefecture, Wednesday evening.

Six Bordeaux supporters were hospitalized.

No arrest took place.

An investigation has been opened to try to identify the perpetrators of the attack.
