The 16-year-old young man from Alicante

Jairo Huertas

died yesterday from injuries caused by being stepped on by his horse when he was preparing a Dressage contest in Valencia.

The accident occurred when his horse slipped and, although the fall was not serious, the rider could not prevent the animal from stepping on him when he got up.

He was transferred to La Fe Hospital, where he was in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery, but was unable to recover.

Jairo was a promise of Valencian dressage and one of the references, despite his young age, in the parades of the Association of Comparsas de Moros y Cristianos in the Altozano neighborhood of Alicante.

Specifically, he was part of the Smugglers.
