Simona Halep announced on Wednesday the end of her collaboration with Darren Cahill, her coach since 2015 with whom she achieved her greatest successes and reached the place of world No. 1.

"After working together for six wonderful years, Darren Cahill and I decided it was time to end our collaboration. Thank you for everything D, for making me a better tennis player and a better person," tweeted the Romanian who will celebrate her 30th birthday on Monday.

In 2017, under the leadership of the former Australian player, she reached the top of the women's world hierarchy for the first time, then won Roland Garros in 2018 and Wimbledon in 2019.

She won 11 of her 22 singles titles during her collaboration with Cahill.

The latter had stopped training Halep during the 2019 season for "family reasons" before finding her in 2020. But the Romanian results did not regain their past luster with an elimination in the round of 16 of the US Open for what will remain their last game together.

Halep is currently 14th in the WTA rankings after missing Roland Garros and Wimbledon with a left calf injury.
