“The crew of the Stary Oskol submarine of the Black Sea Fleet (BSF) completed the planned tasks as part of the permanent grouping of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea and headed for the place of permanent deployment - the hero city of Novorossiysk,” the Defense Ministry said.

When passing through the strait zones, submarines of the Black Sea Fleet and surface ships operate in strict accordance with international maritime law, they stressed.

In June, Russia held exercises in the Mediterranean Sea with the participation of two carriers of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, MiG-31K fighters, five ships and two submarines, including Stary Oskol.
