The poor harvest of grapes in France seems to be the new normal, fears Mischa Billing.

With climate change, extremes are becoming more frequent.

This may lead to a change in the taste of chablis wines in a few years.

- Chablis are white healthy wines, with high freshness.

When the climate is warmer, you get more sugar in the grape and there is less freshness in the grape, less fruit acid.

Maybe the wines will have a different taste, says Mischa Billing.

Lack of stores

Already next year, consumers will notice the difference in harvests.

Then there will be a shortage of chablis pigs after this year's miserable harvest.

A cold spring has frozen the grapes early this year and a wet summer caused mold on many growers' crops.

Wineries have begun to adapt, some already several years ago.

What winegrowers can try to do to save the crops from frost in the spring is to prune their vines later in the year.

In this way, they bud a little later and then you hope to avoid the buds freezing.
