Dauphiné Libéré on

Tuesday.

And for good reason, on September 14, a young woman of 24 saved her neighbor from certain death when her apartment was hit by a kitchen fire, in Haute-Savoie.

This former volunteer firefighter was alerted by a burning smell in her neighborhood at lunchtime.

The young woman discovered the point of origin: a bay window ajar.

After contact with the firefighters, who were already on the way, she decided to step over the gate and enter the accommodation to help her neighbor, a 65-year-old man.

"Without his intervention, the victim would not have survived"

The smoke "enveloped the whole apartment, up to 20 centimeters from the ground, a sign that it had been burning inside for a while," she told the regional daily.

The young woman went into the dark apartment and found the man totally disoriented.

She then guided him outside.

In difficulty to breathe, the victim is taken care of by the firefighters and taken to the Geneva hospital, to be placed in a hyperbaric chamber.

The young woman was entitled to four hours of oxygenation.

“Without his intervention, the victim would not have survived.

Within five minutes, it was too late, ”said a firefighter at
