The inspiration comes from the fact that the restaurant's owners have a background in recruitment, where a so-called “finders fee” is often paid to those who find the required skills for a company.

- It is a proven method in other industries.

Maybe others may think it is controversial, but we took a chance and it has worked, says Sandra Mastio, gastronomic manager at restaurant Mastio.

Many applicants

Other restaurants have made similar offers, but then with smaller sums.

However, Sandra Mastio does not think that SEK 10,000 is such a large amount in this context.

- It may sound like a lot of money, but it is actually an investment in the staff and the team.

And if you look at it that way, it's a pretty small sum.

And when we meet Sandra, it's full, not only with the lunch preparations, there are already a large number of interviews booked.

- Before, we ran the ad without a hit salary and received zero applications.

Now with the hit salary, we have received a lot of people.

And it is real gold nuggets that have sought.

"Important with good working conditions"

Many of those laid off during the pandemic have left the industry for other occupations or further education.

According to Sandra Mastio, a hit salary is not the only solution.

Reasonable working conditions and wages.

This may not always have been the case in the industry, but a big change can be seen there.

Employers who do not take care of themselves may not retain their staff.

At the time of writing, the Swedish Public Employment Service is advertising almost 700 vacancies in the restaurant industry in Skåne.
