This year, not a single electric car has been newly registered in the municipalities of Norsjö, Malå, Sorsele, Dorotea, Överkalix and Pajala, the figures for new registrations from Statistics Sweden show.

Common to these northern municipalities is that the public charging options are very few.

The best is Överkalix with two public charging stations and three charging points, shows a survey of the charging infrastructure in the country from the electric power industry's interest organization Power Circle.

In Malå, Sorsele and Dorotea there is one public charging station per municipality.

In Pajala and Norsjö there are no public charging options.

Most in high-income municipalities

Sales in significantly higher-income municipalities such as Danderyd, Solna, Nacka and Vellinge are significantly better, where until the end of August this year, most electric cars were sold per inhabitant, according to statistics compiled by the car buyer service Blipp via the analysis company Vroom.

244 electric cars have been registered in Danderyd this year.

There, the public charging infrastructure is also more developed: eleven charging stations and 91 charging points in Danderyd.

In Vellinge, there are 18 public charging stations and 61 charging points.

Tobias Olsson, car salesman at Folkes Bil in Vilhelmina, says that many customers show an interest, but due to concerns about the range, they can not imagine switching to an electric car.

- Reach is the biggest problem.

Even though they market that it should be enough 50 km when it is cold, it does not really correspond to reality.

"Interest is kind of zero"

In Vilhelmina, there is only access to a public charging station at the moment.

In the municipality, four electric cars have been registered so far this year.

- If there is no opportunity for fast charging inland, then it is not something that attracts customers.

If there is an opportunity to charge, it is clear that more people will be able to consider buying.

In Malå, the way of thinking goes in the same direction.

Partly the skepticism is due to the long distances and partly because more charging options are needed, says Angelica Edlund, from Norrlands Bil in Malå.

- Here I can say that the interest is kind of zero.

First of all, we only have one charging post and then when you hear people talking, no one thinks it works up here.

These are the distances to work and then that we have 25-30 degrees below zero all winter.

You wait until you know the car is recovering.
