In 2020, the year of the pandemic and its successive confinements, female executives were less increased than their male counterparts.

This is indicated by the annual report published on Wednesday by Apec, the Association for the employment of executives.

The pay gap between men and women, which already existed before the health crisis, has widened further.

In 2020, female executives earned on average 15% less than their male counterparts, and for an equivalent position, 8% less, with median compensation for women of 46,000 euros per year against 53,000 for men.

Usually, the volume of increases is the same between the two sexes, except last year when 40% of male executives were increased against 35% of female executives.

For Bernard Vivier, director of the higher labor institute, given the context, this gap should be put into perspective. “

It is a constant among executives, the pay gap is greater than among non-executives between men and women. The Covid-19 period accentuated the phenomenon, because working at home, women had to do two jobs in one. That is to say, family and household responsibilities, which are still largely theirs alone, and then their professional activity in material conditions that are not always easy. There is still a long way to go, but the wills are there, and the achievements are still slow

. "

More generally, the year 2020 will continue to be marked by a drop in salary increases for all executives.

Only 38% of them benefited from an increase compared to 48% in 2019.

⚠In 2020, more men than #managers received salary increases.

It's time to act !

@Apecfr is sounding the alarm bell on #FH Inequalities and continues to support companies towards greater equality.
