A fisherman died by drowning this Tuesday in the middle of the day in Penmarc'h (Finistère) after being carried away by a wave at low tide.

The accident took place on the Poul-Briel site, near the Rocher du Préfet.

People who witnessed the tragedy immediately notified the emergency services.

Firefighters and specialists from the National Society for Rescue at Sea (SNSM) intervened without delay at the site of the accident, known for its strong sea currents.

A diver from the lifeguard station also participated in the rescue operations.

The device was piloted by the Corsen Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Center (Cross).
