Chebeya-Bazana case in the DRC: the new trial postponed to October 6

The new trial of Christian Kenga Kenga and Jacques Mugabo began this Wednesday, September 22 before the High Military Court concerning the assassination of Floribert Chebeya and Fidèle Bazana.

Already convicted in absentia, the two accused were for the first time physically present at the bar.

The court quickly postponed the hearing until next month.

The formalities of use have been made, the presentations of the various civil parties.

And very quickly, for lack of lawyers to defend the superior commissioner, Christian Kenga Kenga and the assistant deputy commissioner Jacques Mugabo, the hearing was postponed.

Eleven years after the events, this is the first time that the two defendants have been brought to justice.

In the room: mainly lawyers and journalists, the hearing is broadcast live on national television.

Expected revelations about the sponsors

No big revelation is expected on the facts which have already been widely documented.

However, this is the first time since their arrest that they will be able to defend themselves and give their version of the facts of the accusations brought against them by RFI witnesses.

Witnesses who present themselves as members of the commando which assassinated the militants of the Voice of the Voiceless.

But where they are expected, it is on the revelations they could make about their superiors and the sponsors of this assassination.

Two generals are mentioned,

and

General Djadjidja

.

One is on the run, the other is in detention.
