It is reported by "Algerian Radio".

As France 24 clarifies, this decision was made against the backdrop of "ongoing provocations and hostile actions by Morocco."

On August 24, Algeria announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Morocco.

Morocco then stated that it remains "a reliable and loyal partner of the Algerian people" and will continue to "act prudently and responsibly."

According to TASS, relations between Algeria and Morocco are aggravated by the problem of Western Sahara, in relation to which the countries take opposite positions: Rabat considers the former Spanish possessions part of its own, while Algeria supports its independence.

In April, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry summoned the Spanish ambassador due to the entry into Spain of the Secretary General of the Polisario Front (Popular Front for the Liberation of Western Sahara) and the leader of the self-proclaimed Sahara Arab Democratic Republic Brahim Gali.
