Restaurant owner fires woman for breastfeeding her baby, calling her an "animal"

A US woman has been shocked after she was kicked out of a restaurant and told to "never come back" just because she was breastfeeding her newborn.

The incident took place at the Greek Isles restaurant in Washington, where Robbie Maiden and her husband, Aaron, were planning to meet with their family for dinner with their newborn son Rhett.

While waiting for family members to arrive, their three-day-old son Rhett became hungry and Robbie started feeding him inside the restaurant, Como news agency reported.

She told the outlet, “I made sure to get a good blanket before we entered, then I covered everything and we sat facing the wall.” However, the owner of the restaurant approached the table and asked the family to leave without giving reasons, telling them never to come back.

After the humiliating incident, Aaron left a poor review of the restaurant online, writing, "My wife is appalled and ashamed. I won't be back and I hope this actually makes a difference."

The owner responded by calling his wife an "animal" and his infant son "naughty", writing: "Don't come to my restaurant to breastfeed your baby."

After the post went viral, an angry group of mothers demonstrated outside the restaurant, accusing it of discrimination and disgrace.

"He's going to have to respond to it one way or another because it's illegal to kick a woman out for breastfeeding," said Megan Stevens, one of the protesters.

According to the Breastfeeding Coalition of Washington, "It is illegal for someone to ask you to stop breastfeeding, cover your baby, move to another area, or leave."
