Several media, including Europe 1, mistakenly announced the death of Paul Quilès on the basis of official statements from the president of the Tarn Departmental Council.

The family of the former minister of François Mitterrand then denied this information on Tuesday evening.

On the strength of official statements from the Tarn Departmental Council, Christophe Ramond, to Agence France-Presse, Europe 1 mistakenly announced on Tuesday evening the death of Paul Quilès, former minister of François Mitterrand in the 1980s and 1990. One of the daughters of this figure from Mitterrandie denied the death of her father in the evening.

"My father is not dead, he is sick but he is alive," Emmanuelle Quilès told AFP.

A press release shortly before 11 p.m.

Shortly before 11 pm, Christophe Ramond published a press release explaining that this information was incorrect, also evoking a “regrettable odd” and expressing his “support” and his “friendship” towards the former minister and his relatives.

Following press information reporting the disappearance of P Quilès, I published a press release this evening.
