The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development has lowered its global growth forecast for 2021 to 5.7% from 5.8% previously.

In the United States, with 5 million more unemployed, the outlook is becoming more uncertain.

The US economy is expected to grow 6% this year.

A level lower than the projections of Congress, which in July evoked a GDP increase of 6.7%.

On the other hand, China sees its outlook unchanged: 8.5% this year, 5.8% in 2022.

In this context, the strong support for the economy put in place by the public authorities and central banks should continue, according to the OECD.

After a historic recession in 2020, having seen the world economy contract by 3.5%, "

the world GDP is today higher than its level before the pandemic

 ", continues the institution.

However, some emerging countries will take longer to get by, notably Brazil, Russia, Mexico and South Korea.

To listen: The aid promises of rich countries still not kept, according to the OECD
