Relations between the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and the deputy mayor, Begoña Villacís, are theoretically good.

The PP-Ciudadanos coexistence has always enjoyed good health in the Consistory of the capital of Spain, contrary to what happens in other administrations, such as the Community of Madrid, where everything exploded last March.

However, this Tuesday the two collided on account of a slip or an error by the Cs leader in Madrid.

Begoña Villacís has revealed in Cadena Ser that Madrid "is going to aspire to organize the Olympic Games", that it has "we are working" for it and that those Games will be those of 2036. As soon as this clear message has jumped to social networks, on the fourth floor of the Cibeles Town Hall, the alarms have gone off.

Minutes later, the Mayor's Office has made public a forceful denial: "Given the barrage of questions we are receiving, we clarify that from the Mayor's Office we deny that Madrid is currently aspiring to present itself to the 2036 Olympic Games. Thank you very much."

Cs sources have tried to reduce the scope of Villacís's words, but in the radio interview it has been clear: "Yes, yes. Madrid is going to aspire to the Olympic Games," he said emphatically, to clarify later that they are those of 15 years from now, in 2036.

Sources from the Madrid City Council confirm to EL MUNDO, however, that "the decision has not been made" and that this matter "has not even been discussed in government meetings."

The mayor's anger with his

number two

is remarkable this Tuesday, as this newspaper has been able to verify in sources on both sides.
