21 September 2021 Work accident in the afternoon in Salento, in Palmariggi, where a 39-year-old worker, originally from Martano, died while demolishing the attic of a garage.
The worker would have been overwhelmed by the sudden subsidence of the solar pavement on which he was working with a pneumatic hammer: he fell to the ground and was crushed by rubble.
Rescued by colleagues and, immediately after, by 118 health workers, he died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Carabinieri and Spesal Managers intervened on the spot.
The area was seized by the prosecutor on duty Maria Vallefuoco who ordered the autopsy.
