“The Wise Men of the Muslims” confronts “hate speech” at a conference for Arab media professionals

The Muslim Council of Elders will organize a conference in the Jordanian capital, Amman, entitled “Media against hate” on 27 and 28 September, in conjunction with the Amman International Book Fair, under the patronage of Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, member of the Muslim Council of Elders, senior advisor to King Abdullah bin Al Hussein, King of the Kingdom Hashemite Jordan.

The conference aims to create an Arab media trend that believes in the human responsibility of the media and its role in building intellectual awareness, confronting hatred, extremism and discrimination towards the other, and in continuation of cooperation between the Council of Muslim Elders and Arab media professionals, which began through the Arab Media Gathering, and the launch of the Twenty Media Work Blog, from For Human Fraternity on February 4, 2020 in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.

The conference will hold several specialized sessions, discussing important axes, including hatred in the Arab media and the prospects for overcoming it, and the image of the Arab person in the Western media. The conference, the impact of legal legislation, media charters, and the responsibility of official and syndicate media institutions in confronting hate speech.

The conference will be attended by a group of the most prominent Arab media professionals in various forms of electronic, visual, audio and print media, and leaders of Arab media and syndicate institutions.
