The first Asian superhero in the Marvel franchise, "Shang-Chi" remained at the top of the North American box office for the third week in a row, according to final figures released Monday by the specialist firm Exhibitor Relations.

The Disney film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" grossed $ 21.7 million from Friday to Sunday and $ 176.9 million since its release in the United States and Canada.

The action comedy "Free Guy" remains in second place for its sixth week on screens, with $ 5.1 million (108.5 million since its release).

"Cry Macho", the latest opus directed by Clint Eastwood, goes straight to third place for its first weekend in theaters, with $ 4.4 million.

The 91-year-old American actor returns to the westerns that made him famous and plays a former rodeo champion, Mike Milo, in charge of a final mission.

"It's a weak start that faces two big hurdles: older moviegoers aren't yet ready to hit theaters in droves, and the film isn't available at home" on streaming, says David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research, a movie consulting firm.

"But with its lukewarm reviews, even in normal times the film would have started off below the average for a Clint Eastwood western," he adds.

The horror film "Candyman" remained stable at number four for its fourth week in theaters.

The Universal-produced remake of the famous 1992 opus has raised $ 3.5 million ($ 53.2 million since its release).

Another horror film, "Malignant", drops from third to fifth place, with $ 2.7 million for its second week on screens ($ 9.8 million since its release).

Here is the rest of the top 10:

6 - "Copshop" ($ 2.3 million)

7 - "Jungle Cruise", a Disney adventure film (2.1 million)

8 - "Paw Patrol: The Movie" ($ 1.7 million)

9 - "Don't Breathe 2" ($ 671,000)

10 - "In the eyes of Tammy Faye" ($ 652,000)
