The housing market in Kiruna has previously consisted of an older stock with low rents.

But with the transformation of society, and thus a move to new apartments, there will ultimately be a rent increase for tenants.

- We need more housing, especially for reasonable rents so that people can afford to live, says Magnus Westerlund, negotiator at the Tenants' Association.

Negotiated agreement

To alleviate the rent differences, the Tenants' Association has negotiated an agreement with the municipal housing company and LKAB's housing companies.

The agreement regulates the conditions for those who live in tenancies and who have to move due to the social transformation.
