State Department announces donation of over 1.6 million doses of vaccine to Uganda

"The United States ... is announcing a donation of over 1.6 million doses of Pfizer's anti-coronavirus vaccine to Uganda," the State Department press office said on Twitter.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel recommended increasing efforts to distribute coronavirus vaccines to poor countries.

In July, it was reported that the United States would transfer part of the COVID-19 vaccines to Ukraine as part of the COVAX program.
