Several GGD employees have been suspended because they may have committed fraud with vaccination certificates.

The suspects would have created false vaccination registrations on request, so that someone could always wrongly have a QR code, GGD GHOR Nederland reported on Monday.

In the interest of the investigation, the organization does not want to say how many suspects and which GGD regions exactly are involved.

"We do not tolerate that employees abuse their work at the GGD or in the national call center to commit fraud," said a spokesperson.

The suspected fraud was discovered a few weeks ago.

"The employees were immediately suspended and a report was filed with the police."

The cybercrime team of the Central Netherlands police, among others, arrested a suspect of the fraud on Monday.

It was not disclosed if and when other arrests were made.

Anyone who comes to work at the GGD must always submit a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).

In addition, a confidentiality agreement must be signed.
