According to TASS, the movement of pedestrians and vehicles stops on Second Avenue - only members of delegations, staff of the headquarters and accredited journalists are allowed further.
The streets leading from Second Avenue to First Avenue, where the headquarters are located, are blocked by barriers of police cars, water trucks and concrete blocks.
Earlier, the UN said it would not require proof of coronavirus vaccination for delegates to enter the General Assembly hall.
