The director of the Wiesbaden State Theater, Uwe Eric Laufenberg, has announced that he does not want to extend his contract beyond the end of the 2023/24 season.

In his communication, Laufenberg quotes a letter that he had sent to the Hessian Minister of Culture Angela Dorn (The Greens).

Contrary to the contractual regulation, the latter did not speak to him about an extension.

The ministry has now confirmed the omission. There was "a mistake in the scheduling" because "other important matters" should also be discussed in the conversation. The minister apologized personally to Laufenberg. Laufenberg told the FAZ that he was considering doing freelance work again in the future. The ministry no longer spoke to him, said Laufenberg. In October 2020, he was warned by the ministry because he had to withdraw a planned hygiene concept in the chessboard and closed the house for it. Before the stage arbitration tribunal, he had won the argument about it.
