The downward trend in the number of corona infections has stopped for the time being.

After falling for six days in a row, the seven-day incidence has now increased slightly.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on this Monday morning as 71.0.

For comparison: the previous day the value was 70.5, a week ago it was 81.9.

The health authorities in Germany reported 3736 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

A week ago the value was 5511 infections.

According to the new information, 13 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 12 deaths.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with the Sars-CoV-2 virus rose to 92,971.

The RKI has counted 4,145,852 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,897,800.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was last given by the RKI on Friday at 1.89 (previous day: 1.87).

A weekly or monthly comparison is not possible due to the high number of late registrations.

A nationwide threshold value from when the situation can be viewed critically is not provided for the incidence of hospitalization, among other things because of large regional differences.

The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

Spahn expects vaccination approval for young children

Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn expects a corona vaccine for the youngest to be approved at the beginning of next year.

"I assume that the approval for a vaccine for children under twelve years of age comes in the first quarter of 2022," he told the newspapers of the Funke media group.

"Then we could protect the younger ones even better." The CDU politician also pointed out that time could pass between approval and a vaccination recommendation by the Stiko.

BioNTech, for example, announced a few days ago that it would apply for approval of its corona vaccine for children between the ages of five and eleven in the coming weeks.

Study results are therefore already available and only need to be prepared for the approval authorities.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) had announced that it could not yet give a timeframe for a possible approval.

Production is already being prepared by the company.

Spahn also spoke out in favor of uniform nationwide corona rules for organizers.

It was "once again very confusing that every federal state goes its own way," he said.

"It would be ideal if all countries agree on the 2G model as an option." There are currently 16 different rules for concerts or events.

In more and more federal states, 2G option models are currently being introduced for companies in the cultural and service sectors. With 2G option models, restaurateurs and organizers can voluntarily restrict access to vaccinated and convalescent people. All customers who can only show a corona test may then not be admitted. In return, there are usually no mask and spacing rules.
