It is reminiscent of the X-ray equipment of dentists but is many times larger.

After an accident almost two years ago, the Swedish Customs has been without a mobile scanner.

On some occasions, a bus has been borrowed from another customs district.

The Swedish Customs' new mobile scanner has now arrived and been sharply tested in the port of Helsingborg, with automatic functions and greater detail.

Customs expects it to save time.

- We become much more efficient with this tool.

Instead of it taking hours to unload the load inside the control hall, we can scan a truck in ten minutes, says Henrik Sjökvist, unit manager at the Swedish Customs.

Blekinge wants to borrow

One who has shown great interest is the customs inspector Mikael Andersson, who would like to take the mobile scanner directly to the ports of Blekinge.

- We have lacked a scanner in Blekinge for 1.5 years.

We have very difficult to control goods.

It is very welcome up to us, he says.

- This bus will be seen in the port of Helsingborg, Lernacken, Ystad and in Blekinge.

Where it is simply needed, says Henrik Sjökvist at the Swedish Customs.

Great detail

Unlike older models, with the new scanner you can see in different planes, angle the image and almost see in 3D.

It is considered easier to find hidden goods.

- You can clearly see how many cylinders are in the engine, where the jack is located, how much fuel it has and where the spare wheel is located, says Birgitta Severinsson, scanner coordinator at the Swedish Customs, and points to the X-ray image.
