With all 144 constituencies counted, it was clear on Monday morning that the Social Democrats received the most votes in Västerås diocese.

The second largest party was politically independent in the Church of Sweden (POSK) with just under 21 percent.

The Center Party received 15.5 percent of the vote and was thus reduced to third place.

The turnout in this year's church election for Västerås diocese was 17.68 percent, which is a decrease from 2017 when the figure was 19.30 percent.

That decrease follows the trend in the rest of the country.

A total of 55,609 people out of the 314,487 eligible to vote.

Västerås diocese includes the whole of Dalarna and Västmanland as well as the northern part of Örebro county, the diocese has a total of 74 parishes.

Lowest turnout in Lima-Transtrand

Dalarna's lowest turnout in the local election to the church council was in Lima-Transtrand parish (14.19%).

But there was also only one nomination group that lined up, the so-called collection list.

We have previously reported on difficulties in recruiting and retaining church politicians there.

Bjursås parish had the highest percentage turnout (24.08%).

Bjursås, together with Älvdalen and Avesta-Grytnäs, belonged to the parishes or pastorates that had the smallest tap.

No parish in Dalarna reported increased turnout.
