A volcano in the Spanish Canary Islands of the Atlantic Ocean erupted for the first time in 50 years, and lava erupted violently from multiple cracks, and local authorities are calling on local residents to evacuate.

According to Reuters news agency, the Kumbrevieha volcano in the southern part of La Palma Island in the Canary Islands erupted on the 19th.

In the video from the site, you can see the bright red lava flowing out from the mountain surface along with black smoke and covering the road.

This volcanic eruption was the first in 50 years since 1971, and nearby residents had already evacuated due to the observation of volcanic tremors before the eruption. Authorities are calling for evacuation extensively.

The Canary Islands Volcano Research Institute has revealed that eruptions have been confirmed in at least seven locations and has repeatedly posted footage and detailed information online asking them to stay away from the volcano.

Spanish Prime Minister Angel Sánchez has announced on his Twitter account that he will change his plans to visit the United States to attend the UN General Assembly and check the damage in the Canary Islands.
