His act could have turned into a drama.

A man was arrested on Saturday afternoon in Chambéry after lightly wounding two security guards with a firearm who, for lack of a health pass, had refused him entry to a park where a charity running race was being held.

The events took place around 5 p.m. at Parc du Verney, where the Odysséa race against breast cancer was taking place.

The entries were secure and filtered as part of health measures, said the Chambéry prosecutor's office, confirming information from local media.

"He didn't like it and he came back armed"

“Seriously alcoholic” and without a health pass, the man “was turned away. He didn't like it and came back armed. At the end of circumstances which remain to be clarified, he fired twice on security guards, wounding them both ”, explained the prosecution. The two victims, whose "the vital prognosis is not engaged", were reached by the shots of the handgun, "of the revolver type", one with a finger and the other with the abdomen. The gunman then fled towards the town station, where he was arrested before being taken into custody. "For the moment, the individual is mostly sober," added the prosecution, which opened an investigation for "violence with a weapon".

The Odysséa race in Chambéry brings together several thousand participants each year and is the subject of donations for the fight against breast cancer.

The 2020 edition had been canceled due to health constraints against Covid-19 and replaced by a virtual race that each participant could do on their own.
