The occupation army announced, at dawn today, the arrest of the last two Palestinian prisoners who escaped from Gilboa prison, Ayham Kammji and the Nafeat activist, while an Israeli court is considering extending the detention of the other four prisoners for a period of 12 days.

A joint Israeli force from the army, intelligence and border guards carried out an operation to arrest Kamji and Nafeat in the eastern neighborhood of Jenin in the northern West Bank. The two prisoners were able to reach Jenin after a two-week flight and escape, during which the occupation pushed with large reinforcements to track them down.

A video clip released by the Israeli army showed the moments of the operation in Jenin, and the arrest of the two prisoners in a house inside the city.

Army spokesman Avichai Adraee said that Israeli forces entered Jenin and isolated and surrounded a building in which the two prisoners were hiding, and opened fire around it until they were arrested.

The occupation army said in a statement that the arrest of the two prisoners was carried out without resistance or injuries in its ranks, and that they were transferred to a center of the General Security Service (Shin Bet) for interrogation, noting that all the commanders of the central region came to the special operations room to follow up on the arrest.

The Israeli army also said that it had arrested two Palestinians who had provided assistance to the two captives, such as Mumji and Nafi'at.

Fouad Kammaji's father said, during an Al-Jazeera bulletin, that his son told him by phone before his arrest that he and Nafi'at would surrender without resistance to protect the residents of the building, after the Israeli forces threatened to blow up the building and those in it.

The Israeli General Security issued a statement saying that it was able to locate the house in which the two prisoners were, and added that two other Palestinians who provided assistance to the two prisoners were arrested.

The director of Al-Jazeera office in Ramallah, Walid Al-Omari, said that Israeli sources said that they will be transferred to a prison in southern Israel and will be placed in two separate cells, at the time when the four prisoners were transferred to Al-Jalama prison, east of Haifa, and then transferred to the court on a civil charge of escaping from the authorities.

camouflage process

The director of Al-Jazeera office added that the Israeli forces carried out a camouflaging and misleading operation, as they pushed large numbers of their members to the eastern neighborhood of Jenin, while special forces from the army, police and intelligence surrounded a house in another area of the city where the two Palestinian prisoners were.

The Israeli newspaper "Yediot Aharonot" reported that Palestinian protests erupted after the arrest of the two prisoners, which included throwing stones and Molotov cocktails and shooting at Israeli forces.

Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that the occupation forces withdrew from Jenin after arresting the two prisoners.

He also reported hearing an exchange of fire after the occupation forces stormed the eastern neighborhood of Jenin to arrest the two prisoners.

Last Friday and Saturday, the occupation forces arrested the prisoners Mahmoud Ardah, Yaqoub Qadri, Zakaria Al-Zubaidi and Muhammad Ardah, who escaped with Rebekah Kamji and Nafi`at from Gilboa High Security Prison, on September 6, through a tunnel they dug from their cell to outside the prison, which caused embarrassment to the institution. Israeli security.

Since the escape from Gilboa prison, Israel has sent thousands of members of the security services, special forces, and vigilantes, and used helicopters and advanced technology in the search for prisoners.

Occupation police sources said two days ago that the cost of searching for prisoners is the highest in the history of Israel, as it exceeded $30 million, and the daily cost of the search process was between 3 and 6 million.

remand

Meanwhile, the Israeli Court of First Instance in Nazareth is holding a session today to discuss the police and intelligence request to extend the detention of the four re-arrested prisoners, Mahmoud, Muhammad al-Ardah, Zakaria al-Zubaidi, and Yaqoub al-Qadri, for a period of 12 days, pending investigation.

The session is held via the Zoom application, without the presence of the four prisoners on the pretext of the spread of the Corona virus, which the defense team considered a violation of the right of confidentiality between the lawyer and his client and a violation of the fair foundations of trials.

Al-Jazeera correspondent said that another session will be held today for the two prisoners, Kamji and Nafeat, who were re-arrested at dawn today.

Last week, the court decided to extend the detention of the four prisoners pending investigation, while the judge allowed the publication of the charges against the prisoners by the intelligence services, including, in addition to escaping from prison, planning to carry out a terrorist operation and belonging to and aiding a terrorist organization.

Qassam era

The spokesman of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Hazem Qassem confirmed that the Al-Qassam Brigades will keep its promise that the six prisoners who managed to escape from Gilboa prison will be at the head of the upcoming exchange deal.

Qassem said that working to liberate the prisoners from the prisons of the occupation will remain at the top of the priorities of the Palestinian resistance.

He added that despite the re-arrest of the six prisoners, the process of their escape will remain evidence of the fragility and weakness of the Israeli security system and its failure to withstand the will of the Palestinian fighter, as he put it.

Solidarity with the prisoners

Meanwhile, activists in support of the Palestinian cause in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo organized a solidarity event with the prisoners in Israeli prisons, especially the six who managed to escape from Gilboa prison two weeks ago before being re-arrested later.

The solidarity activists called for the protection of the prisoners and their liberation, and granting them their full rights.

Yesterday, activists organized a protest in front of Gilboa prison, west of Beit She'an, to support Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons. They expressed their solidarity with the re-arrested prisoners, denouncing the mistreatment they are subjected to by the Israeli interrogators.
