September 19, 2021 Russia to vote. The voting operations for the renewal of the Duma and for other regional levels ended at 8 pm, Italian time (450 seats are up for grabs in the lower house of Parliament). Several candidates supported by opponent Alexei Navalny have complained that Google has blocked access to their sites through the Google Docs system.



While yesterday the Russian Central Electoral Commission denounced that it had been targeted by three cyber attacks since the first day of the legislative elections, Friday, and again yesterday.




The elections are held according to a mixed electoral system. The State Duma has 450 seats. The party that supports Putin, United Russia, currently holds 334. For half of the Duma, or 225 seats, a candidate is chosen directly. The other half of the seats are elected on the basis of party lists. There are 14 political parties in the running and voters choose one of them for a second representative in the Duma.



Voter turnout at 35.7%


Voter turnout reached 35.69% on the third day of the Duma elections. This was stated by the president of the Russian Central Electoral Commission (Cec) Ella Pamfilova, quoted by Tass.



Google blocks access to Navalny's smart voting lists


Google has blocked the access links to Google Doc documents used by the Alexei Navalny movement to spread the list of candidates supported by the smart vote strategy. The complaint comes from the staff of the opponent. Google has also blocked YouTube videos at the request of the Russian telecommunications authority Roskomnadzor. The move follows Friday's decision to remove the Navalny app from the Google Play virtual store (as well as from Apple's App Store).
