Caroline von Seth believes that the issue has started to bubble up, that the generation that has been in school since the free school reform came into force has now grown up.

- And we have seen the shortcomings in practice, I think.

You may have noticed that you have made some savings for the school to go around in one way or another.

Or you have noticed it in the quality and qualifications of teachers.

But it is not just the youth union that is pushing on this issue internally.

Several motions to be considered at the party meeting are about just this and even in the Riksdag, the Center Party has members who think it is time to at least look at what a profit distribution limit for independent schools could look like.

- I'm not sure how it should be shaped in detail.

But what many have raised, and which I also think you should look at more, is to make demands before you can distribute money to investors.

So that the money stays in the system if you do not live up to certain quality requirements, says Member of Parliament Niels Paarup-Petersen (C).

Lööf: "Need to ensure that the system becomes more equal"

Party leader Annie Lööf (C) says that the free school reform needs to be changed in several ways, but does not see it as very likely that they would turn the issue around.

- I really believe in the opportunity to be able to run preschools and village schools around the country and it is often teachers and educators who invest both in their time and their equity.

And then it is important that there is also an opportunity to take out a salary after making investments that are necessary for the school to live up to quality requirements.

Therefore, I would see it as difficult for us to agree to ban profits or the like.

SVT:

You who received a wording in the January agreement that the government should not pursue the issue of profits or welfare.

What do you think about people in your own party pushing this issue now?

- It's not that strange really. Because we have a lively debate in our party, just as other parties have. And this is an issue that involves a lot of center-right parties. To get a good school in the whole country. For me and the Center Party, it is important that the opportunity to be able to choose their preschool and school remains and then there must be alternatives. But we need to make the system more equal.
