The corona infection process in Hesse continues to calm down, but it remains at a very high level.

This is shown by the new data.

The so-called hospitalization incidence has recently become an important benchmark.

It describes how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were newly admitted to hospital across the country due to corona disease in the past seven days.

This value has been falling for a few days.

The same applies to the second key figure, the occupancy of the intensive care beds.

It is therefore moving away from the threshold from which the state's extended protective regulations are envisaged.

The country still has to formulate these rules in detail.

There is also a downward trend in the previously decisive indicator of incidence, which is the number of new infections among 100,000 inhabitants recorded within a week.

Hesse remains above the federal average, which is 72.

This follows from information on the website of the Robert Koch Institute.

Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Offenbach as well as the districts of Fulda, Limburg-Weilburg and Offenbach are above the 100 mark. Only five cities and regions in Germany have a higher incidence than the neighboring city of Frankfurt.

In contrast, the Hersfeld-Rotenburg and Werra-Meißner districts have values below 30.

Intensive care units fuller than a week ago

The Hessian health authorities have reported fewer new cases to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) than a week ago. 659 new cases after just under 1300 compare with just 146 two months ago. Since then, the incidence has risen from a good 13 to 81, although it has been steadily falling again for a few days with this value. However, the incidence is an early indicator and, with a few weeks delay, increasingly attracts corona patients in clinics: According to the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine (Divi), 146 Covid patients recently had to receive intensive care after 130 a week ago.

The number of invasively ventilated patients has since increased by around 25 to almost 80, with the trend also falling slightly. In addition, according to the state, there are significantly more than 300 Covid patients in normal wards, plus several dozen suspected cases. The hospitalization incidence is 2.1, as reported by the Ministry of Social Affairs with reference to the RKI. A week ago the value was 2.6. Important: This code does not represent the entire occupancy of intensive care beds for corona patients. According to Divi, 60 such beds are currently free. The emergency reserve therefore amounts to 760. These are the additional intensive care beds that can be set up within seven days.

If the number of intensive care patients exceeds the mark 200, further protection rules are due, according to the state of Hesse

.

The same applies if the hospitalization incidence climbs above eight.

73 percent of adults vaccinated

Despite the campaign week #HierWirdGeimpft, the vaccination rate is making slow progress.

According to the RKI, almost 73 percent of people in Hesse are vaccinated.

That is 1.5 percentage points less than in the federal government.

26.7 percent of children and adolescents over the age of twelve received both indicated syringes against the coronavirus.

A good 28,000 Hessians have already received the third dose.

Only Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia have higher values.
