On Friday, Aftenposten revealed that Kjell Ingolf Ropstad stated that he paid rent to his parents to live in his boys' room, this to avoid paying tax on his commuter home in Oslo that he received when he became minister in Erna Solberg's government.

Ropstad has admitted that he talked to his parents about covering some of their expenses to make the home in Oslo tax-free.

"Understand that many are disappointed"

On Saturday, the Minister for Children and Families in Erna Solberg's resigning government announces that he is now resigning, both as Minister and as party leader.

- I understand that many are disappointed, says Kjell Ingolf Ropstad at a press conference on Saturday.

He says that Prime Minister Erna Solberg did not urge him to resign but that she understands his decision.

Olaug Bollestad, deputy party leader for KrF, will now take over temporarily until a new party leader is appointed.
