The report shows that Blekinge is at the top when it comes to the number of women who have their mammograms.

In 2018, as many as 90 percent of those who were called came, which is above the national average.

- We send out reminders to those who for some reason do not show up.

It has definitely been shown to have an effect that they then book a new appointment, says Maria Kjellsson, head of the mammography department at Bröstcentrum in Karlskrona.

According to the Cancer Foundation's survey, it is socio-economic and cultural differences that contribute to some women being out of control.

But the staff at Bröstcentrum believe that accessibility is good in Blekinge.

- It is easy to change your time via 1177, and then someone else can take over your old time, says nurse Ida Välitalo.

The pandemic affected the visits

When the care was affected by the pandemic, it led to patients having to cancel their appointments in the event of symptoms and fewer women being able to visit the premises at the same time.

Now the staff at Bröstcentrum in Karlskrona hopes that all women between the ages of 40 and 74 will come to their summonses, and that it will make the county remain at the top of the list.

Because it can in turn save many women's lives.

- Many are very grateful that mammography exists, says Ida Välitalo.
