The police found the body of a young woman in Rödermark-Urberach.
The officials had previously been alerted on Saturday night with the information that a lifeless person was lying in an apartment in the district of Offenbach's district commune.
The body of the 20-year-old woman showed "evidently signs of sharp violence," according to the police report.
The officials did not find any other people in the apartment.
The victim lived there with another woman.
She is also 20 years old and is considered suspect, as it is said, and is said to have previously stayed in the apartment with the woman who was killed.
"The suspect later reported by phone to the police and was provisionally arrested at around 3 a.m. in Offenthal," it continues.
Offenthal is part of Dreieich.
The suspect should be brought before a judge on Sunday.
The body is autopsied to clarify the circumstances of death.
