Gone are the old-fashioned UGC with stained carpets and squeaky armchairs in Part-Dieu.

The multiplex which opens this Saturday, September 18 has had a makeover, and the transformation is spectacular when we still remember the old places on two floors, which deserved, without compliment, the name of “dark rooms”.

Expanded venues and programming

Now reunited in a single 15,000 m2 space, located in the new La Lanterne / Les Tables extension of the Westfield La Part-Dieu shopping center, the UGC Ciné Cité designed by architect Alberto Cattani is bathed in natural light, which illuminates a central hall of 1,100 m2 by 17 meters in height.

Its 18 rooms have 3,101 seats, 90 of which are reserved for people with reduced mobility.

Which makes it the biggest cinema in Lyon.

The program will also be extended, with more author films, documentaries, thematic evenings and events ranging from film debates to meetings with film professionals.

The multiplex, which looks like a high-tech hangar, also includes two spaces that can be privatized.
