The Government Chamber of the

Superior Court of Justice of the Basque Country (TSJPV)

has reacted to defend the Basque magistrates after the latest criticisms made by the Lehendakari

Iñigo Urkullu

, Vice-Lehendakari

Josu Erkoreka

and PNV leaders such as

Itxaso Atutxa

against

Judge Luis Garrido

. The judicial leadership in Euskadi admits criticism but reacts against

"personal attacks"

and warns of the danger that the role of Basque judges is "delegitimized". Garrido, president of the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the TSJPV, has been publicly appointed by the PNV since in February he was part of the court that annulled

the closure of hospitality establishments

in the municipalities with the most infections ordered by the Lehendakari Urkullu, which had been requested by the hospitality associations of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa.

The

Permanent Council of the Government Chamber of

the TSJPV (made up of 8 magistrates) today issued an unusual public statement after the political controversy raised by the ruling of the TSJPV that gave the reason to La Liga on the capacity in Basque stadiums. In just one sentence, the text agreed upon by the judicial leadership criticizes the "personal attacks" on magistrates for their orders and sentences and draws attention to the "delegitimization" to which they are being subjected. The agreement has been adopted under the presidency of

Iñaki Subijana

, present last Wednesday at the ceremony held in San Sebastián and organized by the UPV in which Urkullu charged against Judge Garrido, without expressly citing him.

In that solemn act and before a wide institutional and university representation, Urkullu pointed out Judge Garrido for "disparaging science" and paid the disqualification by recalling a comment made by the magistrate when he participated in a radio talk show. Garrido, who clarified the context of his statements and apologized for the comment, has participated as president of the Administrative Litigation Chamber, of judicial decisions that have upset the Basque Government and, directly, the Lehendakari Urkullu.

The car in which

the Football League was agreed

and ordered to increase the capacity of the Basque stadiums to 60% has been the last crash and Garrido, who has refused to make public evaluations, has again been singled out.

Qualified leaders such as the president of the PNV in Bizkaia

Itxaso Atutxa

have denounced the alleged attempt by "elements" of the judiciary to exercise "counter-power" against the decisions taken by the Basque Government at the proposal of the committee of specialists led by Jonan Fernández.
