The national gendarmerie published a video on Thursday recounting the heroic rescue of a motorist, stuck in his vehicle, in Nîmes (Gard), on Tuesday, during the severe bad weather that hit the department.

We see two gendarmes, alerted by a witness, stop on a flooded road to lend a hand to a woman, who could no longer get out of the cabin of her car.

They managed to extract it, and supported by passers-by, they formed a human chain to support the motorist, to the edge of the road.

“The water rose again and again, testifies the 22-year-old motorist, interviewed by France Bleu Gard Lozère.

Fortunately the gendarmes came to my aid.

Thanks to them, I am still here.

They came swimming for me.

They would tell me to knock, to try to open the doors.

Miraculously, the window opened.
