“We need to effectively use the Ukrainian energy deposits, and not just talk about Nord Stream 2 and gas from Russia,” Hochstein said.

Earlier, the American diplomat said that Washington would not stop its efforts to influence Nord Stream 2, despite the completion of its construction.

In early August, Amos Hochstein became the State Department's senior energy security adviser.

Its tasks include work to "reduce the risks" associated with Nord Stream 2.

As noted in the Kremlin, such special envoys for the project, which has nothing to do with the United States and is generally located on another continent, speak eloquently about what is called "interference in internal affairs."

The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was fully completed on the morning of September 10.
