It was discovered that the United States erroneously attacked civilians with drone strikes during its withdrawal from Afghanistan at the end of last month.

At that time, the allegations that 10 civilians who were not Islamic State militants were killed in the wrong air strike turned out to be true.

U.S. Central Command Kenneth Mackenzie said at a briefing that 10 civilians, including seven children, were killed in a drone strike in Kabul on the 29th of last month.

"It was a tragic mistake and I sincerely apologize," Mackenzie said.

Earlier, the US media raised suspicions that the airstrike at the time accidentally bombed 10 civilians and killed them.

The New York Times (NYT) reported that the driver of the vehicle targeted by the raid was Jemari Ahmadi, a collaborator of the American aid organization Nutrition and Education International (NEI).

Ten people are said to have been killed, including Ahmadi and his children.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered an investigation into the matter, including whether it was responsible for the drone's misfire.
