The Ministry of National Education said on Friday that 3,299 classes were closed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

A stable figure compared to the previous one, and which represents 0.63% of the country's classes.

In elementary school, a single case can lead to a closure.

Nearly 3,300 classes (3,299) were closed Thursday because of the Covid-19 epidemic, a stable figure compared to the previous one and which represents 0.63% of the country's classes, announced Friday the Ministry of National Education .

Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer said Monday that "just over 3,000 classes" were closed, a figure that was growing exponentially from the previous week.

The situation seems to be stabilizing

The ministry also announced Monday, in this first weekly update since the start of the school year on September 2, that 16 school structures (15 schools and one college), or 0.027% of the total, were closed because of the Covid epidemic.

Finally, 1,314 of the 10,700 middle and high schools offered "a vaccination course" to the students.

For the start of the school year, the ministry has retained the "level 2" health protocol (out of 4) which authorizes all students to be received in person and requires them to wear a mask indoors, except in kindergarten. A case of Covid in a primary school class leads to a closure, as in June. In the event of contamination in middle or high school, only students with unvaccinated contact cases must isolate themselves for one week.
